The GMACS project is a cooperative modeling effort that has been supported by BSFRF from its inception in 2009 to develop and refine a methodology for a standardized modeling framework that can be used to assess any commercially important crab stock in Alaska. The development of the model architecture is complete and the testing of model runs and model stability for is underway. A review of the first outcome of the GMACS project for the St. Matthew blue king crab stock occurred in September 2017. Further development and refinement of GMACS to multiple stocks is ongoing and will be completed on a stock by stock basis in the immediate future.
