BSFRF funded research for Dr. Gordon Kruse of UAF for an ICES published review of the recovery of Bristol Bay stock of red king crab under a rebuilding plan. The review examined the factors that contributed to the successful rebuilding of the BBRKC stock; from the stockβs depleted status in the mid-1990s, implementation of a Federal rebuilding plan in 1996, bycatch reduction measures, area closures and their effects on the stock and the fishery. The BBRKC resource has been considered rebuilt since 2003.
